Events
In addition to weekly films at the Screening Room, the Columbus Film Society also partners with other educational and cultural institutions to bring the art of film to the greater Columbus community. By supporting film screenings, lectures, and related events and programs at other venues such as the Columbus Public Library and The Columbus Museum, we hope to foster a vibrant social network of film enthusiasts who enjoy the intellectual challenges and creative insights derived from our programs.

Banned Books Film Festival
The Columbus Film Society, the Columbus Public Library, and the Muscogee County Friends of Libraries will join together this September to celebrate the freedom to read what we choose. Four classic films, based on books censors have banned or attempted to ban, will be shown at the Columbus Public Library. The final film will be shown during Banned Books Week, an annual event celebrating intellectual freedom and the importance of the First Amendment. For more information about Banned Books Week, please visit www.ala.org/bbooks/.
Every year, there are hundreds of attempts to remove books from schools and libraries. Banned Books Week draws attention to the harms of censorship and celebrates those who fight for our First Amendment rights.
All movies will be shown at 7:00 pm in the Columbus Public Library Auditorium.
